2005 KIA Sorento EX Road Test Report

According to this road test report of KIA Sorento by NRMA on June 2005, the best things about the vehicles are the interior space, performance, and the value for money. However, there are worst things too. The soft suspension and centre lap belt.

Someplace on the automotive timeline traditional family wagons morphed into sport utility vehicle and it seems we can’t get enough of them. With enough of room for mum, kids and supplies through the week, they can be compacted into service for dad’s adventuresome weekend plans – real or imagined. It looks like traditional car based wagons are firm becoming museum pieces. But for budget conscious families “real” 4wd’s can be a costly escalate from the family sized “soft -roaders”. Enter the Kia Sorento. First seen here in 2003, it provides a high-low range drivetrain, loads of space and equipment, all at an attractive price. For 2005 the big Kia gains a five speed “tiptronic” auto, replacing the previous model’s four speed unit.

In terms of value for money the Sorento has a good deal to offer. Practical, roomy and well equipped it is a family 4wd for a sedan price. Only the unrefined suspension spoils an otherwise good package.

The technical specifications of the vehicle like the engine, transmission, wheels, tyres, steering, dimensions, towing, and the test result is also available in the file.
